Brian Paltridge

Professor Brian Paltridge

Professor Paltridge has taught English as a second language in Australia, New Zealand,
and Italy and has published extensively internationally in peer-reviewed journals.

He has taught postgraduate courses in the areas of second-language teaching and learning,
language curriculum design and methodology, research methods, discourse analysis,
English for specific purposes, writing for publication and thesis and dissertation writing.
With Sue Starfield, he edits the Routledge Introductions to English for Specific Purposes 
and Research in English for Specific Purposes series.



Guangwei Hu

Guangwei Hu

Guangwei Hu is Professor of Language and Literacy Education in the Department of English,
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he teaches psycholinguistics, language testing,
and research methodologies. His research interests include academic literacy,
language assessment, second language education, biliteracy acquisition, and the psychology
of second language learning and use.

He has published widely on these and other areas and serves on the editorial boards of several
international journals such as English for Specific Purposes, Journal of English for Research Publication Purposes,
Language, Culture and Curriculum, and Publications. Currently, he is Co-Editor of the Journal of
English for Academic Purposes
.



Charlene Polio

Charlene Polio

Charlene Polio is Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of
Linguistics & Germanic, Slavic, Asian, & African Languages at Michigan
State University, where she also directs the MA Program in Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). 

Her main area of research is second language (L2) writing. She is
particularly interested in the various research methods and measures
used in studying L2 writing as well as the interface between the fields
of L2 writing and second language acquisition. Her recent books
include Understanding, Evaluating, and Conducting Second Language
Writing Research (with Debra Friedman) and Authentic Materials Myths
(with Eve Zyzik).  She is co-editor of TESOL Quarterly and past associate
editor of the Modern Language Journal.
