Dr. Lionel Wee Hock Ann

Lionel Wee is a Provost’s Chair Professor in the Department of English, Linguistics and Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore. His research interests include language policy, new varieties of English and general issues in sociolinguistics and pragmatics. His latest book, with Nora Samosir, is Sociolinguistics of the Korean Wave: Hallyu and Soft Power (Routledge, 2024)

Prof. Eric Friginal

Before joining PolyU as Professor and Head of the Department of English and Communication (May 2022), Eric Friginal was Professor of Applied Linguistics at the Department of Applied Linguistics and ESL and Director of International Programs at the College of Arts and Sciences, Georgia State University (GSU), USA. He specializes in applied corpus linguistics, quantitative research, language policy and planning, technology and language teaching, sociolinguistics, cross-cultural communication, discipline-specific writing, and the analysis of spoken professional discourse in the workplace. His recent publications include The Routledge Handbook of Corpus Approaches to Discourse Analysis (2020), co-edited with Jack Hardy; Advances in Corpus-based Research on Academic Writing: Effects of Discipline, Register, and Writer Expertise, co-edited with Ute Römer and Viviana Cortes (John Benjamins, 2020); English in Global Aviation: Context, Research, and Pedagogy, with Elizabeth Mathews and Jennifer Roberts (Bloomsbury, 2019); and Corpus Linguistics for English Teachers: New Tools, Online Resources, and Classroom Activities (Routledge, 2018). He is the founding co-editor-in-chief of Applied Corpus Linguistics (ACORP) Journal (with Paul Thompson) published by Elsevier.

Dr. Nicola Galloway

Dr. Nicola Galloway is a senior lecturer and programme director of the MSc/Med TESOL and publications lead for the School of Education, University of Glasgow. Nicola is an applied linguist with an interest in the pedagogical implications of the use of English as a global lingua franca and the internationalisation of higher education in non-Anglophone contexts. She has published widely in the fields of Global Englishes and English Medium Instruction (in higher education) and has authored 7 books on these topics. She is currently editing the first Routledge Handbook of Teaching English as an International Language (2023). She sits on the Editorial Board of RELC, Language and Education and the JALT Journal.”

Prof. Siaw-Fong Chung

Siaw-Fong Chung  currently holds the position of Professor in the Department of English at National Chengchi University in Taiwan. Beginning February 1, 2024, she is honored to serve as the Director of the EMI Resource Center within the Bilingual Education and Multicultural Promotion Office at the university. Additionally, she has the privilege of being the 13th President of the Linguistic Society of Taiwan and the Associate Editor of the International Review of Pragmatics journal (Scopus).

From February 2022 to January 2024, she had the opportunity to serve as the Chairperson of the department. Her professional focus encompasses the domains of corpus linguistics, lexical semantics, and cognitive linguistics. Her professional focus lies within the domains of corpus linguistics, lexical semantics, and cognitive linguistics. Throughout her career, she has conducted research and published extensively on a variety of subjects, including Malay corpus linguistics, near-synonym analysis, and most recently, an investigation into language use on social media using a corpus-based approach. At her university, she leads a dynamic and dedicated research team specializing in corpus-based research.
