The Master’s Degree Program in Environmental Social Sciences organized an event titled “Building Relationships in Environmental Social Sciences through the Learning Pathway of Social and Environmental Sciences in Western Thailand,” which took place from August 18 to August 20, 2023. This initiative is an integral component of the environmental and social science curriculum, designed to foster networking, relationship cultivation, and effective communication. The event aims to engage key stakeholders, including program instructors, staff, alumni, current students, and incoming students for the academic year 2023. This initiative is aligned with the strategic goals outlined in Strategic Plan No. 13 of the School of Liberal Arts at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
Participants in this event are immersed in the Phetchaburi Province-based Laem Phak Bia Environmental Research and Development Project. This experiential activity provides insights into both social and environmental sciences, focusing on topics such as wastewater management and community waste disposal. Simultaneously, attendees gain knowledge about the historical significance of the Poonsook Community in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province and engage with a community-driven tourism project in the Tham Rong Subdistrict of Phetchaburi Province. Throughout their involvement in this event, students have the opportunity to apply sustainability assessment tools to evaluate development initiatives, an integral aspect of the ESS601 Science and Sustainability course. This practice supports a well-rounded teaching and learning approach, encompassing online, on-site, and community-based learning strategies as part of the curriculum’s comprehensive learning cycle.
